Markus Wamser Takes Over Endowed Professorship for Cyber Security

THI has appointed Markus Wamser as the new holder of the university's endowed professorship for cyber security and security architectures. This professorship was established in collaboration with ESG Elektroniksystem—und Logistik-GmbH, now part of HENSOLDT, to further strengthen research and teaching in the field of cyber security.

Markus Wamser studied mathematics and computer science at the University of Augsburg and completed his doctorate in implementing encryption methods at the Technical University of Munich in 2019. Before his professorship at THI, he worked as a system developer and embedded security expert at Ingenics Digital GmbH.

THI President Professor Walter Schober explains: ‘We are delighted that Markus Wamser is taking on the endowed professorship for cyber security at THI. This professorship is an important step for the further development of cybersecurity research at our university. Special thanks go to Dr Reinhard Brandl for his commitment in arranging this collaboration between the former ESG and THI.’

HENSOLDT will continue to support the endowed professorship not only financially. The close cooperation enables the course content to be continuously developed in line with the needs of the Bavarian high-tech industry. Practical aspects such as project work enable students to test and deepen the knowledge they have acquired. The company sees the close cooperation with the THI as an important step towards training the cyber security specialists of tomorrow in a targeted manner.

With the endowed professorship for cyber security, the THI is placing a further emphasis on practice-orientated training and research in the field of digital security.
