For over 165 years, the Association of German Engineers (VDI) has been providing important impetus for new technologies and technical solutions, thereby ensuring a better quality of life, a better environment, and greater prosperity. With around 130,000 members, it is the largest technical and scientific association in Germany. It speaks in favor of engineers and technology and thus plays an active role in shaping the future. Every year, more than 12,000 volunteer experts develop new findings to promote Germany as a center of technology.

Professor Thomas Helmer has now been appointed to the VDI Advisory Board for Automotive Engineering. The spectrum of the advisory board ranges from mobility drives for individual transport, for passenger transport in urban and coach transport, to transport solutions for freight transport in urban regional transport and transnational continental transport, through to drives for construction machinery and agricultural machinery. "I am looking forward to shaping the mobility of the future in dialogue with colleagues from different disciplines," emphasizes Professor Helmer.
