The Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs is significantly expanding its support for small and medium-sized companies in Bavaria in the use of artificial intelligence (AI). KI-Transfer Plus is aimed specifically at small and medium-sized companies that have relatively little experience with artificial intelligence. The program is designed to turn them into AI users within 9 months. To this end, Minister Fabian Mehring is providing a further 5.3 million euros for the ‘AI Transfer Plus - Regional Centres for Bavaria's SMEs’ project until June 2025.

The new funding period will see the launch of five new AI regional centres. In addition to the three previous locations in Munich, Regensburg and Aschaffenburg, there are now five more in Ingolstadt, Neu-Ulm, Kempten, Nuremberg and Würzburg. The KI regional centres are at the heart of the programme. They act as specific contact partners for local companies. With the support of the regional centres, companies are allowed to develop a long-term AI vision and anchor AI in the company's processes and organisation.

Only around 13 percent of companies in Germany currently use AI. The ‘KI Transfer Plus’ programme aims to significantly increase this proportion in Bavaria. To achieve this, THI Professor Alexander Baur and his team are offering a workshop for interested companies from the region on Tuesday, 25 June at 4 pm. The workshop aims to provide information on the specific ways in which AI can be utilized. ‘We aim to explain what AI is and to discuss with the companies present what potential applications there are in their company,’ emphasizes Professor Alexander Baur. Participation in the workshop is free of charge. Please register at www.kitransferzentrum.de.
