The project "Future for all – Competently shaping upheavals through futures literacy" launched an initiative that aims to strengthen future skills in Bavaria. The project supports citizens, companies and organizations in actively and reflectively shaping social and technological upheavals.
The project is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labor and Social Affairs and implemented in cooperation with the Bavarian Foresight Institute. The conference on the 13th. July 2023 served as an exchange between representatives from business, social organizations, volunteer work, media education and youth policy.
The event included a series of inspiring lectures, including the lecture by Prof. Dr. Jan Oliver Schwarz (Bavarian Foresight Institute) on the topic “Future or futures? – Shaping the future with futures literacy”, Prof. Dr. Armin Nassehi (LMU Munich) and Dr. Riel Miller (formerly UNESCO). Participants gained practical insights into the importance of anticipating possible futures and strengthening resilient action. Workshops led by the Bavarian Foresight Institute as well as an exhibition on the history of future designs –from the Oracle of Delphi to modern science fiction – offered participants a creative and practical approach to the topic.
The concept of futures literacy, developed by UNESCO, promotes understanding of the role of images of the future in thinking and acting. Through workshops, forums and innovative formats, social cohesion is strengthened and creative crisis management is promoted.
