As part of the THI Future Lab, Prof. Dr. Christian Locher, Dean of Studies at the THI Business School, welcomed around 100 students from Apian Gymnasium Ingolstadt. The interactive workshop “The next level - getting better with AI” offered the young people an exciting opportunity to get to know the possible applications of generative AI in everyday school life.
The use of AI in schools is currently handled differently: 89% of secondary school pupils already use AI. The schools themselves are rather sceptical about this: almost 40% of teachers prohibit the use of AI for homework. It is therefore all the more pleasing that Apian Gymnasium sent all 11th graders and their teachers to the THI Future Lab. The THI Future Lab is a program that promotes knowledge transfer between research, universities and schools.
In Prof. Dr. Locher's workshop, the students learned to
- Analyze texts and poems with AI
- Create interactive learning stories
- Develop AI-supported mind maps
- Generate topics for seminar papers
“The enthusiasm of pupils and teachers shows how important and in demand such initiatives are. They make a significant contribution to the future of education,” said Prof. Dr. Locher. Special thanks went to Bettina Markl for organizing this inspiring experience.
