You hear it again and again: social media marketing is a must for every company these days. In our networked world, it has become an essential part of communication. However, as practice shows, the professional use of social media is often easier said than done.

With this background knowledge, students on the Master's degree program in Marketing/Sales/Media (MVM) at THI Business School embarked on an exciting summer semester. Supervised by degree program director Prof. Dr. Alexander Decker, they went through the ten steps of the so-called social media cycle. This cycle serves to systematically develop and implement a social media strategy. The challenge: to apply the knowledge gained in a real-life practical project.

A total of five groups, each consisting of around six students, took up the challenge and developed customized social media strategies for their practice partners.

The project partners were just as diverse as their challenges: The Faculty of Sustainable Infrastructure Neuburg at THI, the subsidiary True Care of the beauty company Reviderm, the Museum of Concrete Art in Ingolstadt and two start-ups: Colexo GmbH, which develops software to optimize mergers & acquisitions processes, and PlantUp, an Ingolstadt-based company that produces handmade ice cream bars and ice pralines under the name "your choice". These are an innovative combination of energy bar and ice cream, made exclusively from natural ingredients, contain no added sugar and are 100% organic.

A colorful potpourri of companies that offered the students very different challenges and showed how versatile social media marketing can be.

These practice-oriented projects underline the success of the THI Business School's interdisciplinary approach. They combine theory and practice and offer students a lively and hands-on learning experience that optimally prepares them for their professional future.

To get an impression of what the students have developed with the companies, you can marvel at the results live on the channels:
