On October 26, the kick-off event for the ongoing semester project "Teleoperated Driving" took place. The goal of the course is to demonstrate an application of automated driving - so-called "Teleoperated Driving". This involves transmitting video data from the autonomous vehicle to an operator who remotely controls the car using a "drive-by-wire" function. In addition, the vehicle exchanges Car2X data with a roadside unit to increase road safety. Besides an understanding of technology, the project also focuses on teamwork and project management skills, which the participants from the "Automated Driving" and "International Automotive Engineering" courses are expected to intensify. The students from last summer semester have already expanded the test platform to include Car2X communication and successfully tested it in a real driving test. The highlight is the autonomous research vehicle, the Twizy Anton, which is currently on display in the Science Gallery on Ludwigstrasse. After initial laboratory tests, the students also have the opportunity to work independently on the Twizy on site, generate practical and results-oriented findings and expand upon the knowledge of their predecessors. They are supported by five "supervisors" from the 5GoIng team, who accompany the project work with various core competencies. It is also planned for upcoming semesters that the students will be able to gain practical experience with the platform.
Visitors to the Science Gallery are warmly welcomed to find out more detailed information about the project and the research platform or to discover Twizy Anton on site. Accompanying transfer events will be announced on the website Mensch in Bewegung (mensch-in-bewegung.info), among others.
