From 22 to 25 April, over 2,400 students took the opportunity to make contact with representatives from a wide range of companies at THI. At the CONTACT 2024 careers and recruitment fair, which this year had the motto ‘Jumpstart your Career’, over 135 companies presented themselves with exhibition stands and offers for internships, working student activities, final theses, and career entry in the university auditorium.
When asked in which departments staff are urgently needed, the experts on site answered almost unanimously: ‘In all of them’. The battle for skilled labor is getting tougher, especially in the region. The organizers of CONTACT 2024 are also aware of this. ‘The demand from companies is so great that we have planned four days instead of three for the second time this year,’ says Petra Quenzler, Head of THI Event Management.
THI President Professor Walter Schober also emphasized that CONTACT 2024 is a win-win situation: ‘At the job fair, our students gain valuable insights into entry-level opportunities, from internships and final theses to career starts after graduation. The companies can introduce themselves to the skilled workers of tomorrow.’
Students were also able to use the ‘talentefinder’ trade fair app to make digital contact with the companies in the run-up to the fair, arrange appointments to meet in person, or browse the virtual job wall.
A colorful supporting program was offered daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the days of the fair. In addition to job application photo campaigns, there was free ice cream, coffee, and crêpes.
